Famished after the evening walk by feting the dusk, my eyes ran in search of something to devour. The quest ended up me spotting an over-brimmed tree of a strangely familiar fruit. I plucked one with fascination for its strangeness. But it appeared, smelled and felt the same as any other berry. I took a bite, when swallowed, it tasted bitter. Unexpectedly, I was enticed by the aroma of another drupe from somewhere around. Ambiguously walked, consciously dropping the berry I held. Mesmerized by the scent, embraced it and took a bite. It quenched my apatite.
The uncertainty is still a companion even now for the deeds of that evening.
In the boredom of waiting, while wondering if I should wait anymore, I picked up a conversation with a man sitting alone. It took just few seconds for us to know each other. Coincidentally, he too was stood up on his date. We had a lot to talk, maybe because our every single thought and concepts contradicted.
After having lunch, we returned to the same bench. This time we sat without leaving room for strangeness between us. We gave each other an awkward smile after the gentle but intimate kiss.
The gaze we shared deep into each other didn't bring the flashes of yesterday or the tensions of tomorrow. We were right in that moment, there cherishing and nourishing it with uncertainty of fate.
